What is Jewish Cuisine?
Sunday, August 2, 2020 • 12 Av 5780
3:30 PM - 5:00 PMZoomBarbara Wasser began cooking when she was 11 years old, starting dinner as her mother Sadye hurried home from work. Helping out this way taught her about Jewish family values, the importance of tradition and the place of food in a Kosher home.
As You Like It Kosher Catering has been a huge part of Barbara’s life. Everyone in her family has worked in some phase of it. Barbara worked with a large group of dedicated volunteers for As You Like It and helped build a first-class catering business.
Barbara is the co-author of Divine Kosher Cuisine. This cookbook won a regional award from the Tobasco-McIlhenny Co for community cookbooks. This was only the second time that a Kosher cookbook was so honored. She also won a Solomon Schechter Fundraising Award.
Since moving to Florida in 2016, Barbara misses the Catering but has filled her time with other activities at Temple Beth Am. For Pesach 2019, she did a demo for Sisterhood of Passover recipes, most from Divine Kosher Cuisine.
