Youth Department

Message from the Director

What we create here at the Youth Department of Temple Beth Am is a home, a warm, loving and safe environment for Jewish youth to come together to celebrate their lives. From social programming to social action programming, we try to run the gamut of life to help our youth develop into creative, socially active, thinking Jewish adults. We have a wonderful sense of family in our youth department and we are always looking for ways to welcome more young people and be the best we can possibly be.  If you are looking to become involved, look no further.  Here at Temple Beth Am the door is open!

Youth Fundraising

The Youth Department raises funds each year to help support programs throughout our Temple. Our fundraisers are a joint venture between the Youth Commission, the USY and Kadima Boards and the entire youth membership. Our goal is to raise funds while also promoting fun activities for our youth and their families. Our longest running and most successful fundraiser is our Hamentashen Sale. We bake our Hamentashen each year for sale to Temple members and their friends and families. We sell traditional flavors: apricot, prune, poppy, and new favorites: raspberry and chocolate chip. Buy by the dozen, they freeze and travel well. Our Chocolate Fundraiser has become an annual event. Everyone enjoys our Hershey Bars. A little sweetness for just $1. We also sell our chocolate once a month at Hebrew School Sunday dismissal. Look for us and help support our fundraising activities. Last year we held our first raffle at our end of the year Youth Department Banquet. Everyone had fun placing their raffle tickets to try and win some great prizes. And with everyone’s support we raised over $ 700! Join us again this year for more fabulous and fun prizes.

This year we are introducing some new fundraisers. First, we are selling sweatpants designed by some of our USY members. USY will also be selling the sweatpants to other USY chapters at the upcoming USY International Convention in California this December. Second, we are hosting a Bingo Family Fun Night. Please help support our Youth Department and Temple Beth Am and participate in one or more of our fundraising opportunities. Thanks!!

Youth Director

Prior to becoming a Family Member of Temple Beth Am in August 2003, Zoe originally hailed from Windsor, Ontario, Canada. Growing up in a small community fostered a great sense of Jewish pride which was highlighted through her family, BBYO, Hebrew High and summer camp. Amongst many of her favorite things to do which included baseball, basketball, swimming and movie going, Zoe found time to travel extensively to Israel including organized trips like, Project Renewal-Or Yehuda, Project Otzma,  making Aliyah and volunteering 2 years to the Nachal Brigade of the IDF.

After finding her way back to North America, Zoe found work through the Canada Israel Experience which allowed her to travel freely between Canada and Israel. Between planning and overseeing various Day School trips to Israel, Zoe was also a part of the original birthright Canada team. Deciding it was time to put down some serious roots, JewishJobs.com helped Zoe find her way to what she now refers to as a true home at Temple Beth Am in Margate.

Five years later, Zoe has found her niche as well as a loving husband and is planning to start a family soon.
