Temple Front

Temple Beth Am is a full-service Conservative congregation affiliated with United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism serving the needs of the Jewish population in Northwest Broward County Florida. It has been in existence for almost fifty years, having been established as Margate Jewish Center in September 1959. The main building was completed in 1980, and the Sam & Rita Singer Education Center, which houses the Rabbi Solomon Geld Religious School and the Rose and Jules Lustig Early Childhood Center, opened its doors in 1989.

Education Center

Our schools provide comprehensive programs. We offer quality Early Childhood enrichment within a secure and loving environment. Our Primary Department offers Sunday classes that emphasize holiday experiences and Hebrew reading readiness. Children in grades three through seven attend our Religious School two days a week for two and a half and three hour sessions, learning Hebrew reading, participation in services, Jewish history and values.

We are fortunate to offer an outstanding Adult Education program, including weekly classes and Bar and Bat Mitzvah.

Morning and afternoon/evening services are held daily, and on Shabbat and all holidays. On Shabbat mornings, babysitting services for the youngest children and two special services for children up to age 13 are offered.

The Sisterhoods and Men's Club have events throughout the year.

Youth Center

The Youth Department offers three youth groups: Chalutzim, for third, fourth and fifth graders; Kadima, for sixth, seventh and eighth graders; and USY, for students in eighth through twelfth grades. The programs are open to Temple Beth Am members as well as non-members. Our Youth Center includes a swimming pool, basketball court, recreation center and classrooms.

Although we have just celebrated our 50th anniversary, we are a relatively new Synagogue in terms of our current structure and character. This gives us the opportunity to continue to grow and change, and to be responsive to the educational, social and human needs of our membership and the Jewish community.

MEMBERSHIP 2011-2012

Message from our Temple President:

May, 2011

Dear Congregant,

With summer rapidly approaching, it is time to renew your membership at Temple Beth Am for 2011-2012 and make plans for the upcoming High Holy Days, which begin Erev Rosh Hashanah on Wednesday, September 28th, 2011.  General membership renewal begins on May 16th, 2011.

In order to renew your membership, all financial obligations must be current.  This includes any balance remaining from the 2011-2012 year as well as arrangements for the coming year. Regarding High Holy Days tickets, as always, each Family Membership includes two (2) open seating tickets, and each Single Membership includes one (1) open seating ticket.  Member open seating tickets for the Hirsch Sanctuary are limited and are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, based on membership renewals.  In addition, we will once again offer Parallel Services for the non-affiliated in the community as well as for your unaffiliated family members

Please fill out the renewal forms found in this issue of the scribe beginning on page 9 or on our website at www.beth-am.org using the fee schedule, and indicate a payment plan, if necessary.  If a monthly payment plan is chosen, you must be current with your payment plan before High Holy Day tickets will be issued.  Religious School Registration Forms are also on our website.  Seat upgrades and tickets for other family members will be available once your renewal papers are received and approved; please see the chart for options and fees.

Please note: we will not automatically hold upgraded seats from last year. If you are interested in purchasing permanent seats in our Sanctuary, please contact the Temple office.

All tickets will be mailed two weeks prior to the High Holy Days to all members who have paid in full or have a specified payment plan with the August payment current.  If you have any questions, need any other assistance or are in need of financial scholarship, please contact the Temple office at (954) 968-4545.   We look forward to your continued membership in the Temple Beth Am family and I personally hope to greet you during the High Holy Days.

Sincerely,

Mindy Rieders, President
