Sisterhood
By now most of our congregants have heard that the Evening and Day Sisterhoods will be combining. The needs and wishes of Temple Beth Am have changed over the years; our younger women want to share events and activities with their families rather than exclusively with other women and the Temple will be addressing that need. However, there is still the opportunity for women of all ages to share, bond and socialize together. Sisterhood can fill that need while continuing to support our Temple. We will now be known as Sisterhood of Temple Beth Am and we welcome the membership and friendship of all our women congregants – especially those who have given so much time and effort to supporting Evening Sisterhood. (We like men too, but sadly, membership is only for women, however you are welcome at our meetings and events).
Please don’t let age be a factor in your decision to join us. As women, we all share similar experiences – all of us have, or will have, experienced being daughters, wives, mothers, grandmothers, and yes, even great-grandmothers. We have all attempted (no, succeeded) in juggling careers, families, homes, charities, joys and sorrows and often the friendship of other women have helped us understand and fulfill all these commitments. We will, of course, change our programming somewhat to accommodate those women who are working or otherwise not available on weekdays. We plan to continue monthly Thursday morning meetings, but we will add some activities on Sundays and evenings and we certainly would like to continue the popular Evening Sisterhood events. For Day Sisterhood, this can only be a plus.......younger women with new ideas will assure our future. I predict a bright future ahead for Sisterhood and hope you will join us.
